Alterna’s Caviar White Truffle Elixir was specially formulated to replenish lost nutrients to dry, damaged and dull hair by strengthening your hair’s structure and preventing future breakage. Once combed through fairly evenly, it absorbs into your hair within minutes, increasing its softness and shine while helping to increase follicle hydration and retain moisture. I snagged this great find at my local Ulta ON SALE! I had been very interested in testing a prestige product with white truffle oil and had been eye-balling this formula for quite some time when I had stumbled upon it.

In addition to strengthening your hair and treating advanced signs of damage, Alterna’s White Truffle Elixir provides UV and thermal damage protection by coating each strand. Because it offers high levels of color protection from color fade caused by UVA, UVB, visible light rays including artificial light, and products that can cause color washout, this is on the top of my list. I am a big fan of Alterna’s Caviar product line and after just a couple weeks of use, I believe this elixir is a perfect solution to chemically-processed and environmentally damaged strands. Like any other oil treatment, it is possible to use this elixir in excess. While many claim you can use any amount of oil daily, it can eventually cause build up on your scalp and weigh your hair down.

I really love the flexibility of this elixir! It can be used by itself or can turn any hair product into an intensive repairing treatment with a few pumps. I use this white truffle elixir as a leave-in treatment mixed with a heat protectant/styler, and then as a overnight treatment applied AFTER Alterna’s Caviar Overnight Hair Rescue the following night. Because my hair is longer, I end up using double the amount for leave-in treatments (approx. 6 pumps).

I try to keep my hair on an A-B schedule:
A. Every other day I shampoo and condition my hair, then blow dry with this elixir and a heat protectant physically mixed together.
B. On off days, I rinse my hair with warm water and deep condition for 5- 10 minutes with a mask in the shower. Before bed, I distribute Alterna’s Overnight Hair Rescue evenly and occasionally follow up with a few spritz of the white truffle elixir, comb through then let dry.
All to be washed out the next day.

Alterna gives you these simple routine adjustments on the bottle:
As a rinse-off treatment add 4-6 pumps with your shampoo or conditioner.
As a leave-in treatment add 2-3 pumps to your favourite styling product. Style as usual.
For extremely damaged hair, spray directly onto dry or damp hair and leave-in overnight.
